We were very honored to assist Cesar Estela with his entry into the IFBB 212 Class at the Tampa Pro this weekend. The event was held on Friday Aug. 5th, with prejudging at 10am and the finals at 5pm.
The competition was brutal. There were over 20 competitors from all over the world, and all brought their A game.
When we saw the depth and strength of the competition , we were a bit taken aback, but not Cesar. His quiet confidence prevailed throughout the competition.
I personally was hoping that Cesar, in his first IFBB 212 appearance in the USA, would break into the top 10.
After all…everyone knows how political the bodybuilding scene is. If they haven’t seen you in the USA a number of times, you aren’t anybody.
That was not to be the case today. Cesar shattered the odds and not only broke into the top 10, but placed in the top 5.
It’s crystal clear that Cesar’s claim to fame and future dominance in the 212 class will be his picture perfect symmetry.
Cesar, the Peruvian with the heart of a lion, has the perfect symmetry that Frank Zane made famous in the seventies.
The difference is that Cesar adds the extra iron laden mass and brawn, as well as the movie star look, that is needed to capture thehearts and souls of the audience.
It’s no secret that the sport of bodybuilding has lost a huge portionof the general public in recent years. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger,the grand master of the sport has been vocal about the future of the sport.
The constant and relentless pursuit of more mass, definition, and muscle density has turned the heavyweight male bodybuilder shows into a virtual freak show.
The general public can no longer identify nor aspire to attain such huge muscle mass.
We are not judging the heavyweight competitors, and respect these competitors and their achievements, however it very refreshing to see the revitalization of the sport of bodybuilding to be an endeavor that not only appeals to the average person, but is a noble goal to aspire to.
